This month sent shockwaves through the Russian rap scene and the wider music world. On April 5, it was announced that Russian rapper Паша Техник (Pasha Technique, Pasha Tekhnik, Pasha Technik) had died at the age of just 40.
Destroyed by drugs
Too old to make it to the 27 Club, but still far too young, Паша Техник – real name Павел Ивлев (Pavel Ivlev) – joins the tragic list of музыканты, чью жизнь уничтожили наркотики: musicians whose lives were destroyed by drugs.
Death in Thailand
For many outside Russia, the first time they heard about Pasha Tekhnik was when (or after) he died – in Phuket, Thailand, of all places. That, perhaps, is the worst thing that can happen to any musician. He may always and mostly be remembered for his premature and preventable death – one of the worst things that can happen to anyone.
