Since 2016, Yekaterinburg’s The Air of Hiroshima has been relentlessly productive, releasing thirteen albums and demos in just eight years. And with each release, the band becomes harder to pin down: melodic hardcore bleeds into post-rock, fury dissolves into atmosphere, rawness gives way to beauty. Just when you think you can label them, they’ve already moved somewhere else entirely, never quite solidifying.
Emotional Charge
This multi-layeredness echoes in the band’s name. Hiroshima is not one story, nor one emotion. It contains rage and silence, devastation and resilience. It can make you scream, or leave you speechless. The Air of Hiroshima captures all of this, less concerned with genre than with emotional charge.
There is little publicly known about the band, and perhaps that is fitting. The only way to understand them is through listening – which is where the music starts.

Encore exception: Instrumental
For obvious reasons, non-Russian and instrumental music are normally not covered here. An exception is made for The Air of Hiroshima, whose catalogue includes a large number of high-quality instrumental songs and albums (Ода, Здесь, Желчь). The absence of words and vocals creates an element of stillness that amplifies rather than diminishes the impact.
